Zygor Guides Review

Zygor Guides is one of the first of a new generation of World of Warcraft leveling guides that are software based instead of offered as a downloadable pdf file that you have to read. These leveling guides are actually WoW add-ons that install directly into your game client and allow you access to step-by-step leveling instructions just like you would view the items in your backpack or your quest log.

Zygor Guides offers both Alliance and Horde versions of their leveling guide and claim that, using their in-game guides, players can level from 1 to 80 in under 7 days playing time. The guides include information for all classes and have starting area leveling information for each race as well.

These guides integrate with your minimap as well marking quest waypoints and target mobs or NPCs with dots on your map and giving exact coordinates for each. Your main display is also enhanced with a green arrow under your character's feet pointing out the direction and distance to your current target.

In addition to the leveling guide software (which comes with detailed installation instructions) Zygor Guides also includes special content to unlocking the new Death Knight class that was introduced in Wrath of the Lich King and instructions for leveling the new Inscription trade skill as well.

Because these leveling guides are integrated into the game in a manner authorized by Blizzard (the addon system) they're 100% legal and fall directly in line with the terms of service for World of Warcraft.

Consumer Comments & Complaints

Unfortunately the guide doesn't include all class quests at every level - only those that can be done quickly and with the least amount of effort. For some classes you're told to pick up some or all of the class quests but for other classes you may pick up none. Not a huge deal if your goal is to get to 80 as fast as possible but just be aware that not every quest in the game is referenced in the addon. Comment from www.zygorguides.com

I have owned both Zygor Guides and Joana's Horde Guide. Zygor Guides is an excellent resource to use. Obviously one of the main benefits is the fact of not having to Alt-tab out of the game to get your information. Zygor Guides provides the information you require inside your game screen. Other guides have introduced in game guides now, but still flag behind Zygor simply through ease of use because Zygor Guides is totally hands free, in the sense that once a quest / step is complete it updates itself automatically. I didn't have to look at the quest logs at all. No trips to Thottbot or any of the other WoW sites and I hardly looked at the big map, except to keep an eye on my location. How much time do you think you'll save on your blast to 80 by not having to consult your quest logs, thottbot, the main map, or having to set your own waypoints? Comment from www.azerothcookbook.com

I've used both Zygor's and Joana's guide. I agree with the others, Zygors is the overall better guide. Joana has updated his guide to an in game mod, but Joana's in game mod isn't anywhere near as good as Zygor's. I also agree that Joana's guide is definitely better if you are leveling a Hunter.....other classes can run into some difficulty using Joana's leveling path. A lot of the quests he does at certain levels aren't all that hard if you are a hunter but if you are a mage....forget it. Having used both guides in game, I wish I hadn't dropped $50 on the Joanas guide. Comment from www.about.com
